Grounded in universal spirituality and infused with the heart of hospitality, our purpose is to offer classes, study groups, workshops, and retreats to provide individuals the opportunity to:

• Deepen their spiritual lives

• Learn from a variety of spiritual traditions

• Be in community with like-minded people

• Develop real-life skills for more awakened living

• Embrace their human nature and spiritual essence

• Experience a personal shift in consciousness

• Find ways to contribute to the transformation of the world

The School at Space for Conscious Living is a place where people can gather to explore the “big” questions:

Who am I?
Where did I come from?
Where am I going?
How shall I live?

Our Faculty & Staff

Our vision is that people who come to The School get to learn from many voices, not just our own. Our community is rich with talent and wisdom. We invite guest teachers to share their gifts and life experiences so we can all be students and teachers to one another.

We see our work as a sacred calling to serve and will never turn anyone away because of money. The cost of our events will be reasonably priced, and we will offer scholarships or bartering for assistance with events available whenever possible.

Marilyn Wolf

Marilyn is the founder and director of The School. Her transformative experiences since 2009 led her to retire as a psychotherapist after 28 years in order to help others in their spiritual journeys. She is an integrative energy work practitioner, a seasoned Enneagram teacher, and is certified by the Servant Leadership School of Greensboro where she also taught for five years. The “nudge from the Universe” to build The School into her practice Space for Conscious Living affirmed her gift for gathering people into community for like-minded exploration, learning, dialogue and support.

Marilyn’s spirituality is grounded in many faith traditions, her work in the fields of energy and consciousness, and her studies and experiences with various spiritual teachers. The overarching mission of her sacred calling is two-fold: To help others grasp that, with Divine Source, we co-create the awakening of our true nature which is presence, freedom and love; and that when we live from this awareness, we participate in the shift in consciousness needed in the world today.

Linda Brown

Linda is a retired professor of African American Literature and creative writing. She is the author of three novels, numerous poems, and essays. Her book, Belles of Liberty, is about the role of Bennett College in the Greensboro civil rights movement. It grew out of her life-long passion for racial and social justice. Her latest publications, two volumes of poetry and a CD about Mary the mother of Jesus, are called A Mother Knows her Child and Something of His Mother to Remember.

Linda is a life-long seeker of metaphysical wisdom and truths as well as being a seasoned spiritual teacher. Her offerings include book studies, workshops and retreats exploring such topics as the divine feminine; metaphysics and spirituality; writing as a spiritual discipline; patriarchy, racism, and other systems of dominance; and issues of social justice and change.

Harriet Bullock

Harriet is a retired marriage and family therapist. She is certified by the Servant Leadership School of Greensboro and taught classes there as well.  In her ongoing spiritual journey, she finds wisdom and direction in the Twelve Steps which she believes is a remarkable program for recovery as well as for simply living with serenity and acceptance.

Harriet is passionate about helping others understand and practice compassionate communication so we may engage in conflict with self awareness and an ethic of respect and care for one another. Her deep hope is that through mindful listening and sharing, we can truly help bring about peace in the world. Her offerings include classes and book studies centered on such topics as non-violence, compassionate living, healthy relationships and the use of the Twelve Steps for daily life.

Ken Frazier

Ken holds an M.Ed. in counseling and has served in the mental health field for forty years. He specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression. In addition, he has also facilitated many support groups and led numerous workshops over the years. He is a student and teacher of A Course in Miracles, a map he uses for his own life and for spiritual psychotherapy. For Ken, this work combined with spiritual principles and goals, is a journey from fear to love.

Early in life, Ken began turning inward to find insight into his search for “the truth.” Over time, he began to love his questions and devloped a deep desire to connect with others to search for answers together. Along the way, that quest revealed itself to be a spiritual path. His offerings include such topics as creating inner space, finding our inherent power and wisdom, coming home to ourselves, and living life from a place of awareness and peace.

Bob Richardson

Bob is an ordained minister and a Reiki master. He has studied various religious and spiritual teachings and been involved with many personal growth groups. In 1996 he made his first trip to India which had a profound impact on him. Since then, he has traveled there frequently for extended periods of time, meeting and studying with many well-known spiritual teachers. He has been meditating formally since the mid 1970’s, and as a result of this, his studies, and the grace of his teachers and Divine Spirit, he has experienced shifts in his conscious awareness.

Like all of us who are awakening, Bob has gone through extremely challenging periods. He draws on his personal experiences and shifts in consciousness to guide others in their awakening and transformation, a path he feels we are all walking together. His offerings include leading mediation and spiritual growth groups.

Ellen Simon

Ellen is a certified spiritual director. As well as serving as administrator for The School, Ellen also serves on the faculty, providing opportunities for others to observe and explore God’s movement in their lives. She graduated from Souljourners, an accredited spiritual formation program in the Benedictine tradition and has been accompanying others in their ongoing spiritual journey since 2008.

Ellen’s work is grounded in the belief that God is active in all aspects of daily life and that reflection on divine action and love draws us deeper into relationship with God, self and others. Her calling is to make space for deep, mindful listening, contemplation, and awareness. Her offerings to help others do that include book studies, individual and group spiritual direction, and guided retreats.

The Enneagram: A Map for Understanding Ourselves and Others @ Space for Conscious Living | Greensboro | North Carolina | United States

The Enneagram: A Map for Understanding Ourselves and Others

Facilitated by Marilyn Wolf, M.Ed.

This workshop is designed for BOTH the beginner as well as for folks who have basic knowledge of the Enneagram but want to deepen their understanding of how some of the core elements of the system fall together to make a coherent path for personal and spiritual growth.
In this workshop, we will cover:

  • A brief history of the Enneagram and the meaning of the symbol
  • The 3 Centers of Intelligence which explain each Type’s attachments and drive for survival
  • A basic description of each Type which includes focus of attention, core motivations, fears and desires
  • The “constellation” of 5 Types which influence how we show up and function in the world

WORKSHOP FORMAT: Our approach will combine instruction combined with group participation so we can learn from one another what it actually means to be a certain Type. This kind of sharing is fun and enhances our understanding and acceptance of others as well as ourselves.

DO I NEED TO KNOW MY TYPE?
No. In fact, this workshop can be very helpful for that. Prior to the workshop, I recommend you purchase and read The Essential Enneagram by David Daniels, MD. There are also 2 websites which offer online tests and information which can be very helpful:
www.enneagramworldwide.com and www.enneagraminstitute.com

Marilyn Wolf, M.Ed. Although I am teacher of the Enneagram, I continue to call myself a student because I never stop studying it and attending trainings. I have trained with Enneagram pioneers Helen Palmer and Russ Hudson. As a teacher, I draw from their models as well as those of various other Enneagram experts such as Beatrice Chestnut, Richard Rohr, Sandra Maitri, Susan Rhodes and others. Besides a model for helping us better understand our personalities and those of others, I always teach the Enneagram as a path for personal and spiritual growth.

The Journey to Oz and Back: Our Search for Home @ Office of Ken Frazier | Greensboro | North Carolina | United States

The Journey to Oz and Back: Our Search for Home

Facilitated by: Ken Frazier and Phillip Ward

“You don’t need to be helped any longer. You’ve always had the power to go back to Kansas.”
—Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz is an allegory about our inner search for our true home. The heart of the story is our human desire to return to the love and safety we once knew but which we lost when the storms of life took us on a different path. The characters in the story symbolize our belief that we lack what we need to find our way home.

In this 2-day workshop, we will:

  • Explore the search for home as a journey of mind, body and spirit
  • Discover the barriers which you have placed between yourself and home
  • Tap into your inner power to return to the love and safety you once knew
  • Learn how to use this power cognitively, somatically and spiritually for your own healing and to be a healing force in the world

We hope you will join us to come to know yourselves better and find your true inner home.

Dates: Sat., July 20 and Sun., July 21

Times:
9:00 – 5:00 both days. Lunch on your own

Location:
Office of Ken Frazier, 5318 W. Friendly Ave., Suite B, Greensboro NC

Workshop Presenters:
Together, Ken and Phillip have developed a model for teaching the principles and skills needed for the integration of mind, body and spirit for engaging life with more self-awareness and presence. Ken brings his expertise in Cognitive Mechanics, a method for helping others learn to recognize the ego-mind and access the inner Observer-Decision Maker to more consciously navigate life’s conflicts. Phillip brings his expertise in teaching the principles of Tai Chi – balance, centering, alignment and conscious awareness – as a way for managing everyday life, always encouraging his students to “never miss a moment to generate a higher level of consciousness.”

Ken holds a M.Ed. in counseling and has served as a mental health counselor for forty years. Through his practice, the Phobia Treatment Center of Greensboro, he works with clients for the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression. He is a teacher of A Course in Miracles and has been trained in EMDR and Mindfulness. He incorporates these into his work with clients when called for. For more information, read Ken’s bio here.

Phillip is a licensed acupuncturist, certified herbalist and an energy work practitioner. He has studied the Way of Harmonious Living with a Tai Chi and Qi Gong master as well as External Qi Healing with a 25th generation Taoist monk. He is the co-founder of the original Golden Flower Tai Chi School of Greensboro and also teaches the principles of mindfulness through Cha Dao (gong-fu tea ceremonies).

Energy Work: An Integrative Path for Healing

Facilitated by Marilyn Wolf, M.Ed.

“When we look at our lives these days, it seems unwise not to acknowledge that we are residing in an age when the energies not just of the body but of all life are reshaping our world.” — Carolyn Myss, forward to Energy Medicine by Donna Eden

We will begin with a discussion of the “energy field.” Then we will cover the 7 primary Chakras and the Auric Field which surrounds all living things. You will also be led in an experience your own energy.

In addition, you will leave knowing three energy skills which you can use on your own to expand your energetic sense of yourself and to enhance and support your self-care.

There will be a drawing for an energy work session with Marilyn for $50.

Creating Inner Space

Facilitated by: Ken Frazier, M.Ed., LPC

“The mind is great when used as a tool and not so great when it is calling the shots.”
~Joan Borysenko, author of Inner Peace for Busy People and The Power of the Mind to Heal

Eckhart Tolle, Joan Borysenko, Byron Katie and many other spiritual teachers tell us that it’s not what happens to us that causes our distress. It’s what we think about these events that are the real source of our suffering.

We will use the principles and practices of Cognitive Mechanics to understand how our thoughts (i.e., cognitions) are CAUSE and that emotions, behaviors and even physical sensations are EFFECT. Understanding the relationship between “ego mind” and the “observer/decision maker” allows us to effectively use mindfulness to create distance between ourselves and the mental-emotional turmoil of a mind at war with itself.

Specifically, this experience will help you:

  • Examine the relationship between your ego and your observer/decision maker
  • Identify your fundamental ego beliefs that drive your limiting stories about who you are and what the world is
  • Learn specific tools to deal with the worry, catastrophic thinking, and automatic self-defeating thoughts that keep you stuck in painful patterns
  • Develop a “corrective” belief system for yourself
  • Learn to apply the principles of Cognitive Mechanics to support achieving your desire for more peaceful living
