The Journey to Oz and Back: Our Search for Home
Facilitated by: Ken Frazier and Phillip Ward
“You don’t need to be helped any longer. You’ve always had the power to go back to Kansas.”
—Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, The Wizard of Oz
The Wizard of Oz is an allegory about our inner search for our true home. The heart of the story is our human desire to return to the love and safety we once knew but which we lost when the storms of life took us on a different path. The characters in the story symbolize our belief that we lack what we need to find our way home.
In this 2-day workshop, we will:
- Explore the search for home as a journey of mind, body and spirit
- Discover the barriers which you have placed between yourself and home
- Tap into your inner power to return to the love and safety you once knew
- Learn how to use this power cognitively, somatically and spiritually for your own healing and to be a healing force in the world
We hope you will join us to come to know yourselves better and find your true inner home.

Together, Ken and Phillip have developed a model for teaching the principles and skills needed for the integration of mind, body and spirit for engaging life with more self-awareness and presence. Ken brings his expertise in Cognitive Mechanics, a method for helping others learn to recognize the ego-mind and access the inner Observer-Decision Maker to more consciously navigate life’s conflicts. Phillip brings his expertise in teaching the principles of Tai Chi – balance, centering, alignment and conscious awareness – as a way for managing everyday life, always encouraging his students to “never miss a moment to generate a higher level of consciousness.”
Ken holds a M.Ed. in counseling and has served as a mental health counselor for forty years. Through his practice, the Phobia Treatment Center of Greensboro, he works with clients for the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression. He is a teacher of A Course in Miracles and has been trained in EMDR and Mindfulness. He incorporates these into his work with clients when called for. For more information, read Ken’s bio here.
Phillip is a licensed acupuncturist, certified herbalist and an energy work practitioner. He has studied the Way of Harmonious Living with a Tai Chi and Qi Gong master as well as External Qi Healing with a 25th generation Taoist monk. He is the co-founder of the original Golden Flower Tai Chi School of Greensboro and also teaches the principles of mindfulness through Cha Dao (gong-fu tea ceremonies).
