Last year, I wrote a piece for The School reflections newsletter called “The End of Racism Begins as an Inside Job.”

In it, I say, “We white folks, it seems to me, are willing now to fully take up the mantle of responsibility of ending racism and are coming to realize it starts within through uncomfortable inner examination and the commitment to grow in new and uncertain ways.”

I am offering this discussion series to help us with this process, and I invite you to join me.

Using questions and propositions designed to help us think and reflect on our own experiences, I will facilitate a discussion in which we can share openly and honestly about our experience of being white in a country fraught with racism. With trust, we can learn from one another and grow in ways necessary for transformation of ourselves and our world.

…all Americans live within the context of one dominant culture, the one brought to this country by white Anglo settlers. Exploring one’s relationship to that culture is where the waking-up process begins.
